Expressive Arts Therapy
What is Expressive Art Therapy?
Many feelings that we have cannot easily be expressed in a spoken language. These feelings need a vehicle that puts into form what cannot be fashioned with words. Expressive arts therapy incorporates the visual arts, writing, movement, music, and other forms of creative expression that help to externalize feelings, amplify their meaning, and reflect back a greater understanding of them.
What are the Benefits of Expressive Art Therapy?
My therapeutic approach integrates expressive arts and talk therapy. The combination of art and counseling creates a powerful healing modality that allows the client to access and experience their feelings in a new and nonthreatening way. Root causes of anxiety, stress, and depression are considered in a safe, and resourceful environment, enabling the client to discover deeper levels of wholeness and well-being. This way of working opens the imaginative field to curiosity, surprise, and inspiration.
- Expressive Arts Therapy is geared to individually focused work.
- No prior art experience is necessary to enter into this type of counseling.
